Buying a Kimono. No idea what I'm doing.

Greetings,

I just have a few questions about Kimono if you wouldn't mind answering! :)

My girlfriend is hugely into Japanese culture. She loves everything about it. Shes more into traditional Japan culture than anything. Her dream right now is to one day visit Japan. Unfortunately plane tickets and hotel rooms are a little too expensive right now :(

But as as we know Christmas season is upon us, and I want to get her something really special. A Kimono was a clear choice. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about shopping for a Kimono! Could you guys help me out a bit? I've tried looking around but its all Greek to me, I don't understand what I'm looking at. It seems I'm finding more 'lingerie' or 'nightwear' versions of 'kimono.' I've found many Kimono that look great, but are much more westernized looking.

I would really like to get her a Kimono outfit for her to wear and display, but I don't know where to start. I would really appreciate the help if you can offer it, it would mean the world to me to be able to do this for her :)

I'm looking for as much as a full outfit as I can if its affordable. What do I need for a wearable Kimono? How much will it cost me?

I can offer any information on things like height and build you may need to help me out. All I can say for certain is the colours should be powerful, yet elegant. Rather than delicate. This doesn't rule out soft colours of course, but if possible I'd like to get her an outfit coloured to match her personality. ;)

Thanks in advance for whatever help you can offer

Truly I do not think you have the time to classify a full, traditional kimono from Japan. There are many alternative options, materials, designs, sizes, etc. But here is a single category (wool kimono) from one characteristic store that I frequently use for other stuff, to give you an idea.
