ESASHI
Esashi is a town in the Hiyama District of Hokkaido, which is on the western coastline in the south of the island. Esashi is one of the oldest towns in Hokkaido, and derives its name from the word konbu, which is Ainu for a type of edible kelp. Esashi is famous as the birthplace of Esashi Oiwake, a form of traditional folk music.
