KINUGAWA ONSEN

Kinugawa Onsen is a popular hot springs resort town which can be a day trip from Tokyo. Kinugawa Onsen is in the city of Nikko, so it is not far from the World Heritage Sites in Nikko. The name Kinugawa Onsen comes from the name of the river that flows through the town, Kinugawa River (literially 'angry demon river'). The natural hot springs were discovered in the Meiji Period and have been popular ever since. On the edge of the Kinugawa Onsen town is the Tobu World Square, that features over 100 miniture (1:25 scale) models of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Directions:
Approximately 2 hours from Asakusa Tokyo on the Tobu Kinugawa Line.
