Kumamoto

Kumamoto is the capital city of Kumamoto Prefecture on Kyushu island of Japan. The city's most famous landmark is Kumamoto Castle, a large, and in its day, an extremely well fortified Japanese Castle and Suizenji Park, a formal garden neighbouring the Suizenji Temple.

Kumamoto Castle is Kumamoto's most famous landmark. Kumamoto Castle is a large, and in its day, an extremely well fortified Japanese Castle. The donjon (castle central keep) is a concrete reconstruction built in the 1970s, but several ancillary wooden buildings remain of the original castle.

Lakeside of Ichifusa Dam, located in Mizugami Kumamoto Prefecture, is famous for its cherry blossom and is considered one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.

Minamata Cherry Line in Minamata Kumamoto Prefecture, is a 27km long row of cherry blossom trees next to the road between Yunoko Hot Springs on the coast line and Yunotsuru Hot Springs in the mountains. Minamata Cherry Line is considered one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.

Suizenji Park

Suizenji Park (Suizenji Koen) is considered to one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens in Japan . Suizenji Park is Kumamoto's second top tourist attraction.

KUMAMOTO BRIDGES

Tsujun Bridge, located in Yamato Kumamoto Prefecture, is the largest stone aqueduct in Japan. Tsujun Bridge, completed in 1854, is 84m long with an arch that spans 27.3m.

KUMAMOTO MOUNTAINS

Mt Aso, located in Kumamoto Prefecture, is one of the world's largest active volcanoes and the largest in Japan. Mt Aso is 1592m high has a 25km wide caldera. The last major eruption was in 2011.
