Osaka Maritime Museum, with its dramatic glass dome structure, displays a rich collection of exhibits documenting the history of the prosperity of Osaka. Since ancient times, Osaka has been a hub for maritime transportation. During the Edo Period, it became known as the nation's kitchen, for its role as the center of Japan's distribution activities. At the Osaka Maritime Museum, you will discover how Osaka people utilized the sea, ships, and the harbor. The Osaka Maritime Museum also includes high-tech theaters and a sophisticated Yacht Simulator, the first of its kind in the world. Visitors can try their hand at virtual sailing.
