Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum is a building dedicated to ramen with a small museum and many ramen restaurants with the inside of the building and the restaurants styled like Tokyo in 1958. Why 1958? This is when instant noodles were invented. Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum is located in the Shin-Yokohama district of Kohoku-ku,
Yokohama. (The "u" in "Raumen", referring to
ramen, is intentionally spelled that way.)
Ramen (egg noodle soup) is one of the most popular foods in Japan. It was originally introduced from China in 17th century. Since then, it spread throughout Japan and with each region developing their own unique flavour and style. Opened in 1994, Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum is a ramen theme park which you can learn the history and eat many famous different ramen throughout Japan in a nostalgic setting. Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum has featured in several western films about Japan.
