Guide to Ginza Shopping including the famous departments stores of Wako, Mitsukoshi, Matsuya and Hankyu. Our Ginza Shopping Guide includes an extensive list of department stores, international brand name stores and specialist up market Japanese stores found in Ginza. Ginza is the home of Tokyo’s oldest and most prestigious department stores; the most exclusive is probably Wako. These department stores are famous for the high quality of service they provide customers and are worth visiting for this alone.

Weekend afternoons (12:00 to 17:00) is pedestrian time in Ginza. During these times the main street through Ginza is closed to traffic making it a great time to explore and shop. These times are known as Hokōsha Tengoku (pedestrian heaven).

The shopping in Ginza is mainly focused on fashion, but certainly isn’t only fashion. One store of particular note in Ginza is Hakuhinkan Toy Park, which is one the largest toy stores in the world and a magical experience for both adults and children alike.
