The JR Pass can be a great way to save money when you are traveling through Japan. The Japan Rail Pass can be used on most JR trains, JR buses and JR ferries. One restriction with the JR Pass has always been the need to purchase the Japan Rail Pass Exchange Order prior to arrival in Japan. From March 8th 2017 to March 31st 2018 Japan Rail will be conducting a trial allowing the purchase of the JR Pass from a limited number of sales offices in Japan.
The JR Pass will be available from sales offices at the following stations: Tokyo, Shinjuku, Narita Airport, Haneda Airport, Osaka, Kansai Airport, Sapporo, Sendai, Niigata, Yokohama, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Takamatsu, Hakata and New Chitose Airport.
