Introduction

Mount Fuji, one of the top icons of Japan. Mount Fuji is a near symmetrical volcanic cone and Japan’s tallest mountain at 3776 meters (12,388 feet). Mount Fuji has been spiritually significant for the Japanese for thousands of years for both Buddhist and Shinto religions. In 2013 Mount Fuji was internationally recognised when it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Surrounding Towns

There are several towns which are located around the base of Mount Fuji. The most popular destination is Kawaguchiko with its beautiful lake and when in season, cherry blossom. The cherry blossom around Kawaguchiko is some of the best in Japan. Close by is Fujiyoshida with its famous Fuji-Q-Highland amusement park featuring views of Mount Fuji while on many of the rides and one of the world's fastest roller coasters.
