Introduction

Kita Osaka is one of the key central city wards that features the famous Umeda and popular Nakanoshima districts. Indeed the ward is far less famous than the Umeda District that resides within it.

Umeda District is the key financial and commercial businesses and facilities for the whole of Osaka Prefecture. Umeda is famous for its shopping with no less than four large department stores, many shopping centres and famous boutiques.

Even though historically Osaka's Chuo Ward was the center of the city and the focus of prefecture's administraction in Osaka Castle, today many of those functions have moved to Kita Ku (Ward). Most of the government administraction buildings are in the Nakanoshima district including Osaka City Hall and the Bank of Japan (Osaka). Nakanoshima also features some key attractions of interest to visitors to the Osaka including National Museum of Art Osaka, Osaka Science Museum and the stained glass windows of Osaka City Central Public Hall.
