Introduction

Fujinomiya is a city located to the south west of Mount Fuji, which is easily seen from many parts of the city. Fujinomiya is one of the key starting points for climbing Mount Fuji and the route taken by the first recorded ascent by a non-Japanese, Sir Rutherford Alcock, in 1860. Fujinomiya is also famous for the yakisoba noodles produced there.
