    Tajima Yahei Sericulture Farm is a famous historic farmhouse of a new design that was opimized for the production of sink. The farmhouse built in 1863 by Yahei Tajima, featured a new design with a raised tiled roof over a two story building that allowed better ventilation. This was an important development in the sericulture industry and this design of farmhouse was widely adopted by other sericulture farmhouses. Tajima Yahei Sericulture Farm was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014, along with the associated Tomioka Silk Mill and the Takayama-sha Sericulture School.
