UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Japan

There are over 70 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Japan from the 20 UNESCO World Heritage Listings. These UNESCO World Heritage sites include both cultural and natural listings. Many of Japan’s UNESCO World Heritage Listings are made up of multiple sites, such as the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (Kyoto, Uji and Otsu Cities) listing which consists of seventeen individual cultural sites.

Some of the most well known UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Japan include Mount Fuji, the famous temples of Kyoto, the historic sites of Nara and Himeji Castle.
