Osaka Aquarium (Kaiyukan) is one of the largest aquariums in the world. Osaka Aquarium features the display of two whale sharks. Osaka Aquarium obtains its Japanese name from the Japanese word Kaiyukan literally means ‘Playing in the Sea Pavilion’. In this aquarium, visitors can enjoy creatures as if they are playing together in the sea. Osaka Aquarium consists of 15 water tanks centered on a single huge tank holding 11,000 tons of water (the world’s top-class by volume). Osaka Aquarium is home to 580 species and 30,000 marine animals from the Pacific Rim everything from strangely delightful jellyfish, to playfully chortling sea otters, to dolphins, penguins. Among them, giant whale shark, the largest fish on earth, named ‘Kai-kun’ is the most popular creature of all.

This is one of the most popular outing spot in Osaka. You can experience as if you were travelling around the world. The display of each section is so beautiful. You will be amazed at the size of the giant whale shark. Another unique feature is night time marine life. It is very romantic with the light and sound effect.
